As Icelandic natives, we were thrilled to see that Hildur Guðnadóttir won the 2020 Oscar for best original score for her work on the "Joker” at Sunday night’s Academy Awards. The Icelandic musician and composer is the first woman to win for a dramatic composition. Guðnadóttir is now only a Tony award away from achieving the coveted EGOT, the collection of an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony awards. Only 15 people have won all four. Hildur Guðnadóttir is the seventh woman in Oscars history to be nominated for Best Original Score and only the fourth ever to win in the category. She’s also the first woman ever to win the Golden Globe for Best Original Score.
